Privacy policy

Information pursuant to Art. 13 GDPR

2. What this site does not do

To be explicit, because it is unusual:

  • It sets no cookies of any kind.
  • It loads nothing from third-party servers. Typefaces are self-hosted, so no request ever goes to Google Fonts or a CDN.
  • It runs no analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising, no social media embeds.
  • It builds no user profiles and makes no automated decisions.

3. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Straße 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. When you open a page, your browser necessarily transmits technical data which the provider records in server log files: your IP address, the date and time of the request, the file requested, the referring page, and your browser and operating system.

This processing is based on Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR — the legitimate interest in delivering the site securely and reliably. The data is not merged with other sources and is deleted by the provider after a short retention period. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with the host.

4. Local storage in your browser

The site remembers two preferences you set yourself — your chosen language and your light or dark colour theme — using your browser's localStorage. It also records that you dismissed the storage notice, so it is not shown again.

These entries stay in your browser. They are never transmitted to me or anyone else, and they contain no identifier. Because they exist only to deliver a function you explicitly requested, they do not require consent under § 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings.

5. Contact by email

If you write to me, your message and address are processed solely to handle your enquiry, on the basis of Art. 6 (1)(b) or (f) GDPR. I keep correspondence only as long as needed, subject to any statutory retention duties.

6. External links

This site links out to LinkedIn and Google Patents. Those links are inert until you click them — nothing is loaded from those services while you are simply reading this site. Once you follow a link, the privacy policy of that operator applies.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access your data (Art. 15) and receive a copy;
  • have inaccurate data corrected (Art. 16);
  • have data erased (Art. 17) or its processing restricted (Art. 18);
  • data portability (Art. 20);
  • object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21).

You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The competent one here is the Bavarian Data Protection Authority (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.

8. Encryption

This site is served over HTTPS. Requests over plain HTTP are redirected to the encrypted connection.
